General Terms: 
  • The 5 KM obstacle course event shall be held on Thursday 31/5/2018 (Individuals) and Saturday 2/6/2018 (Teams) from 9:45pm to 2am.
  • All UAE Nationals and residents as well as international participants shall be allowed to participate in the event.
  • This will be a mixed gender event.
  • The minimum age of participation is 16 years old. If you are aged 16-17 your guardian must sign your waiver and register you for the event.
  • It is the participant’s responsibility to be medically fit, they will sign a personal declaration and waiver to that effect.
  • The Organizer of the event may make all decisions and take any actions that will regulate the competition according to the committee’s desire, including amendments to the schedule.
Special terms and rules:
  • Each participant is permitted to participate in both the individual and the team category if they chose to do so.
  • All participants must wear appropriate sports gear including closed sports shoes throughout the entire course., Ffailure to do so will result in the individual not being allowed on the course and potential disqualification.
  • All participants must obey the course rules and course marshals at all times, failure to do so will result in disqualification from the competition.
  • There will be timing mat check points throughout the entire course including the start and finish line. Failure to pass through a checkpoint will result in a substantial time penalty
  • If a participant, either as an individual or in a team, chooses to skip an obstacle for any reason, a time penalty will be added to the individual or entire team.
  • If a participant is caught cheating in any way shape or form, themselves or their team will be disqualified from the event.
  • If a participant, either as an individual or in a team, refuses to be scanned by course officials the said participant and they will be awarded a time penalty and may be disqualified from the event. Participants will be able to finish the course but will not be eligible to finish on the podium or receive any prizes.
  • Everyone MUST wear the provided event shirt as it will have their race and identification number on it. Removal of the shirt at any point during the race will be viewed an attempt to cheat, and will lead to disqualification from the event.
  • An individual must stay on the course at all times otherwise they will be disqualified.
  • when participant fails an obstacle, he/she will be permitted additional attempts, if he/she is not blocking the path of another participant who is attempting to complete the obstacle for the first time.
Competition Categories:
  • Individual Category - Men: All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
  • Individual Category - Women: All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
  • Team Category – Men and/or mixed: All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
  • Team Category - Women: All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category, (team members must be all female).
Individual Category Rules:
  • Each individual will be wearing a timing chip device and will be solely responsible for ensuring they compete the course with the timing chip. If they lose the chip on the course, their time will not be registered and they will not be eligible for any placings or prizes in the competition.
  • An individual must attempt to complete every obstacle and must stay on the course at all times otherwise they may receive a time penalty.
  • If an individual does not complete an obstacle there may be a time penalty awarded. Anyone who attempts to cheat will be allowed to continue on the course but will be disqualified from the competition. The event staff have complete discretion at all times.
  • To avoid punishment, individuals must complete the obstacle(s) in their entirety.
  • If a participant misses a timing checkpoint they will receive a time penalty.
  • Individuals are not allowed to help each other complete obstacles, if they do they may receive a time penalty.
  • The individual’s course time will be recorded when they cross the finish line and after any time penalties are added.
Team Category Rules:
  • Each individual in a team will be wearing a timing chip device and will be solely responsible for ensuring they compete the course with the timing chip. If they lose the chip on the course, their time will not be registered and their team will not be eligible for any placings or prizes in the competition.
  • Team must comprise of exactly 4 participants. Any teams with more or less than 4 people will be disqualified from the competition and will not be eligible for the podium or any prizes, however they will be permitted to run the course.
  • An individual may only compete in one team at each event. If they enter more than one team in the same category, they first team they checked in with will be the team’s time that will be used for the competition. An individual may enter two teams and compete for the prizes if the teams are in different categories
  • If an individual fails to complete an obstacle a time penalty may be added to their team’s overall time. A team may receive the maximum of one penalty per obstacle or checkpoint.
  • Every team member must attempt every obstacle. If a team member does not complete an obstacle, the entire team may receive a time penalty. Anyone who attempts to cheat will be allowed to continue on the course but will be disqualified from the competition.
  • To avoid punishment, individuals must complete the obstacle(s) in their entirety.
  • If a participant misses a timing checkpoint their team will receive a time penalty.
  • The team’s finishing time will be recorded when the last team member crosses the finish line and any applicable time penalties have been added.
  • If a team member withdraws during the race due to injury, the team can continue on the course however will no longer be eligible for the podium or any prizes in the competition.
Location and Timing of the Races:
  • The heats begin at 9:45pm and are every 15mins following on both event nights.
  • During registration participants will be allocated a ‘Heat’ time which will designate their exact starting time.
  • Participants must arrive 1 hour before their Heat time to check in and prepare.
  • Participants will only be allowed to enter the course at their designated ‘Heat’ time.
Results and Awards:
  • The winners and placings of the individual race will be calculated on the fastest time around the course including any time penalties awarded.
  • The winners and placings of the team race will be calculated on the time the last team member crosses the finish line with the addition of any time penalties awarded.
  • The first three individuals/teams shall be awarded (gold, silver, and bronze) medals in all categories.
  • The ceremony will be held at NAS Sports complex on a date to be confirmed.
  • Results are not official until they are posted on the NAS Night Challenge social media pages.
Registration:
  • Registration opens on 5/04/2018 to 29/5/2018 12pm or once the event has reached capacity.
  • If you are registering as a team, you must create a team and then each individual must ‘join’ the team to be correctly registered. If a team is not correctly registered, they will not be eligible to place in the competition.
  • The organizer reserves the right to move a teams or individuals heat at any time and will always notify the participant of such action.
  • All timing chips will be allocated when the individuals/teams arrive on site at the event for race day.
  • Individuals will be solely responsible for ensuring they compete the course with the designated timing chip. If they lose the chip on the course, their time will not be registered and their individual or their team will not be eligible for any placings or prizes in the competition.

Appeal procedure:
  • Any appeal to the results shall be submitted in writing to the Race Director no later than 12 hours after the results have been released to the public and according to the prescribed form. The appeal must be sent to [email protected], any other communication will not be entertained.
  • Appeals shall not be accepted unless they are presented with an amount of AED300 cash, which will be refunded in case of the appeal being upheld. In the case the appeal is found to have no grounds or to be incorrect the AED300 fee will not be refunded.
  • The Technical Committee alone shall be entitled to interpret and explain the regulations and laws and take the appropriate decisions, and in all cases, these decisions shall be final.
