General Terms:
  1. The 4-5 KM obstacle course event shall be held on Thursday 30/04/2020 (Individuals) and Thursday 07/5/2020 (Teams) from 9pm to 1am.
  2. All UAE Nationals and residents, as well as international participants, shall be allowed to participate in the event.
  3. This will be a mixed-gender event.
  4. The minimum age of participation is 16 years old. If you are aged 16-17 your guardian must sign your waiver and register you for the event.
  5. It is the participant’s responsibility to be medically fit, they will sign a personal declaration and waiver to that effect.
  6. The Organizer of the event may make all decisions and take any actions that will regulate the competition according to the committee’s desire, including amendments to the schedule.
Special Terms and Rules:
  1. Each participant is permitted to participate in both the individual and the team category.
  2. All participants must wear appropriate sports gear including closed sports shoes throughout the entire course. Failure to do so will result in the individual not being allowed on the course and potential disqualification.
  3. All participants must obey the course rules and course marshals at all times, failure to do so will result in disqualification from the competition.
  4. It is the participant's duty to know, understand and abide by the rules at all times.
Competition Categories:
  1. Individual Categories
    • MALE - PRO: This is for MALE PRO athletes only and will consist of 1 Heat only. This is the only heat that will be a ‘race’ and eligible towards the podium and prizes. All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
    • FEMALE - PRO: This is for FEMALE PRO athletes only and will consist of 1 Heat only. This is the only heat that will be a ‘race’ and eligible towards the podium and prizes. All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
    • OPEN: All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category. This category is not a race and will be mixed gender.
  2. Team Categories
    • MALE – PRO: This is for MALE PRO teams only and will consist of 1 Heat only. This is the only heat that will be a ‘race’ and eligible towards the podium and prizes. All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
    • FEMALE - PRO: This is for FEMALE PRO teams only and will consist of 1 Heat only. This is the only heat that will be a ‘race’ and eligible towards the podium and prizes. All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
    • OPEN: All UAE Nationals, residents and participants from outside the country shall be allowed to participate in this category. This category is not a race and will be mixed gender.
PRO Individual Category Rules:
  1. Each individual will be wearing a timing chip device and will be solely responsible for ensuring they compete the course with the timing chip. If they lose the chip on the course, their time will not be registered, and they will not be eligible for any placings or prizes in the competition.
  2. An individual must complete every obstacle, otherwise, they will be disqualified.
  3. An individual must stay on the course at all times otherwise they may be disqualified.
  4. If a participant misses a timing checkpoint, they may be disqualified.
  5. Individuals are not allowed to help each other complete obstacles, if they do, they may be disqualified.
  6. The individual’s course time will be recorded from when they cross the start line until when they cross the finish line.
  7. There will be timing mat checkpoints throughout the course including the start and finish line. Failure to pass through a checkpoint will result in disqualification.
  8. If a participant chooses to skip an obstacle they will be disqualified.
  9. If a participant is caught cheating in any way shape or form, themselves or their team will be disqualified from the event.
  10. If a participant refuses to be scanned by course officials the said participant will be disqualified from the event.
  11. Everyone MUST wear the provided event shirt as it will have their race and identification number on it. Removal of the shirt at any point during the race will be viewed as an attempt to cheat and may lead to disqualification from the event.
  12. An individual must stay on the course at all times otherwise they will be disqualified.
  13. When a participant fails an obstacle, he/she will be permitted additional attempts, but he/she must join the back of the queue. He/She must return to the start of the obstacle for the new attempt unless otherwise informed by the staff. The participant is allowed as many attempts as they wish.
Team Category Rules:

Location and Timing of the Races:
  1. The heats begin at 9pm and are every 15mins following on both event nights.
  2. Participants must arrive 1 hour before their Heat time to check-in and prepare.
  3. Participants will only be allowed to enter the course at their designated ‘Heat’ time.
Results and Awards:
  1. The winners and placings of the individual race will be calculated on the fastest time around the course.
  2. The winners and placings of the team race will be calculated on the time the last team member crosses the finish line.
  3. The first three individuals/teams shall be awarded (gold, silver and bronze) medals in all categories.
  4. The ceremony will be held at NAS Sports Complex on a date to be confirmed.
  5. Results are not official until they are posted on the NAS Night Challenge social media pages.
Registration:
  1. Registration opens on 5/03/2020 and will close on 29/04/2020 at 8pm for individuals and 06/05/2020 at 8pm for teams, or once the event has reached capacity.
  2. If you are registering as a team, you must create a team and then each individual must ‘join’ the team to be correctly registered. If a team is not correctly registered, they will not be eligible to place in the competition.
  3. The organizer reserves the right to move teams or individual’s heat at any time and will always notify the participant of such action.
  4. All timing chips will be allocated when the individuals/teams arrive on-site at the event for race day.

Appeal Procedure:
  1. Any appeal to the results shall be submitted in writing to the Race Director no later than 12 hours after the results have been released to the public and according to the prescribed form. The appeal must be sent to [email protected], any other communication will not be entertained.
  2. Appeals shall not be accepted unless they are presented with an amount of AED300 cash, which will be refunded in case of the appeal being upheld. In the case the appeal is found to have no grounds or to be incorrect the AED300 fee will not be refunded.
  3. The Technical Committee alone shall be entitled to interpret and explain the regulations and laws and take the appropriate decisions, and in all cases, these decisions shall be final.
