Nad Al Sheba Fencing Championship

General Terms:

• The Fencing Competition will be held from Tuesday 30/05/2017 to Friday 02/06/2017.
• The technical meeting and the decision on the eligibility of players shall be held on Tuesday 30/05/2017.
• All the citizens and residents as well as local and international players from inside and outside the State shall be allowed to participate in the Competition specified below.
• Participant player shall be medically fit on his/her own responsibility, along with his/her signature on the personal declaration to that effect.
• The Technical Committee of the Competition may take all decisions and actions that will regulate the Competition according to the desired way, including amendments to the fights schedule.

Special Terms:

• Each participant shall be committed to participate only in the category s/he is registered in.
• The player shall undertake to bring his/her equipment in accordance with the International Fencing Federation specifications (clothing, mask, swords, shoe).
• The swords and equipment shall be checked on Tuesday 30/05/2017. It will be on for 3 days of the competition. Timing will be announced during the Technical Meeting.
• The “Latest Version” of the International Fencing Federation Law shall be applied in arbitration and management of all the Competition matches, except as stated in this provision of the regulation.

Competition categories:

System of the Competition:

• The competition shall be held according to the individual system in two phases (groups, followed by single knockout), unless the Committee decides otherwise.
  Phase 1: Groups Round:
  • The fights shall be held according to the round system for once between the players according to a predetermined schedule, and the fight shall end with one of the players winning five (5) touches, or the elapse of three (3) minutes of actual game play according to the following:
    • Recording the mark (V) to the player who scores (5) touches first, and s/he shall be the winner.
    • Recording the mark (D) means the number of touches he scored to be put before the name of the player who lost in the game.
  • Recording the number of each player’s touches in the same registration form.
  • Actual time of the fight shall be 3 minutes, and if the actual time of the fight ends with a tie, there should be at least one touch difference between the dueling players so as to approve the end of the fight.
  • If the tie continues, one minute shall be played as an extra time and whoever scores a touch shall be the winner. If the tie still continues and the extra minute is up, the winner shall be decided by toss.
  • The First Round shall end with the end of all fights of all groups, and duelers shall be arranged in a descending order depending on the number of wins for each one, difference of touches, and the touches registered by the player in sequence, so as to qualify to the Second Round “direct eliminations.” in case of Tie / equality between the 2 players, one playoff game.
  • The number of players qualified to the Second Round shall be determined by the Technical Committee at the meeting and based on the number of participants in each competition. Best 16 players of FIE ranking are qualified to play direct elimination round 64.
• Phase 2: Single Knockout
  • The players qualified shall be distributed in all the competitions according to the number of winning & lose games. Number of touches will be considered in case of Tie / equality.
  • The game consists of (15) touches or nine (9) minutes of actual gameplay with one minute (1) break after every three (3) minutes of actual gameplay.
  • The game ends in the playoffs in the following cases: A. One of the players achieves 15 touches. B. End of the original time of the fight (9) minutes with one of the contestants achieving at least one touch over the other.
  • Losers in the semifinals shall be named the third and third bis.

Location and Timing of the competition:

• The playoffs shall be organized in Dubai Club for the Disabled, and the finalists shall be held in Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.
• The Technical Committee shall determine the schedule of competitions according to the participants’ number, who shall be notified during the technical meeting preceding the Competition.
• All players should attend the CALL in (45) Minutes before the competition starts to check all fencing items (Closes Cards and Medical Checkup).

Registration:

• Registration opens on 02/04/2017 to 18/05/2017.
• All participants shall bring the original Emirati ID Card for citizens, and passports for residents and participants from outside the State.
• Participants shall not be allowed to change the category of the contest after the deadline.
• All participants shall sign a statement of health and physical fitness and shall agree to the conditions of participation and respect to the regulations of the Competition.

Complaints:

• Complaints of the result or wrong application of the law shall be during the game or action in the time of the offense by the player only.
• Complaints shall not be accepted unless they are presented with an amount of AED (300) which shall be refunded in case of acceptance of the Complaint, and shall be submitted to the Organizing Committee in case of rejection.
• The Technical Committee alone shall be entitled to interpret and explain the regulations and laws and take the appropriate decisions, and in all cases, these decisions shall be final.
