Fencing Championship

General Terms:

• The Fencing Competition will be held from 10/05/2019 to 13/05/2019.
• The technical meeting and the decision on the eligibility of players shall be held on Thursday 9/05/2019.
• All citizens, residents as well as local and international players from inside and outside the UAE will be allowed to participate in the Competition.
• Participating player shall be medically fit on his/her own responsibility, along with his/her signature on the personal declaration to that effect.
• The Technical Committee of the Competition may take all decisions and actions that will regulate the Competition according to the desired way, including amendments to the fencing schedule.

Special Terms:

• Each participant shall be committed to participate only in the category he\she is registered in.
• The player shall undertake to bring his/her equipment in accordance with the International Fencing Federation specifications (clothing, mask, swords and shoes).
• The swords and equipment shall be checked on Thursday 9/05/2019. It will be valid for 3 days of the competition. Timing will be announced during the Technical Meeting.
• The “Latest Version” of the International Fencing Federation Law shall be applied in refereeing and management of all the Competition matches, except as stated in this provision of the regulation.

Competition categories:

Format of the Competition:

• The competition shall be held according to the individual system in two stages (Poules, followed by single knockout), unless the Committee decides, otherwise.
  Phase 1: Poules Round:
  • The fights shall be held according to the round system for once between the players according to a predetermined schedule, and the fight shall end with one of the players winning five (5) touches, or the elapse of three (3) minutes of actual game play according to the following:
  • Recording the mark (V) to the player who scores (5) touches first, and he\she shall be the winner.
  • Recording the mark (D) means the number of touches he scored to be put before the name of the player who lost in the game.
• 2. Recording the number of each player’s touches in the same registration form.
• Actual time of the fight shall be 3 minutes, and if the actual time of the fight ends with a tie, there should be at least one touch difference between the dueling players so as to approve the end of the fight.
• If the tie continues, one minute shall be played as an extra time and whoever scores a touch shall be the winner. If the tie still continues and the extra minute is up, the winner shall be decided by A draw
• The First Round shall end with the end of all fights of all groups, and fencers shall be arranged in a descending order depending on the number of wins for each one, difference of touches, and the touches registered by the player in sequence, so as to qualify to the Second Round “direct eliminations.” in case of Tie / equality between the 2 players, one playoff game.

Location and Timing of the competition:

• The playoffs shall be held at Shabab Al Ahli Dubai from Friday 10/05/2019 to Sunday 12/5/2019. The finals will be held at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex on Monday 13/05/2019.
• The Technical Committee shall determine the schedule of competitions according to the participants’ number, who shall be notified during the technical meeting preceding the Competition.
• All players should be in the CALL room at least (45) Minutes before the competition starts to check all fencing items (Identifications, Cloths and the medical checkup),

Results and Awards:

• The top three players awarded medals (gold, silver and bronze) for all categories.
• Cash prizes are awarded for the first three positions for each category.

Registration:

• Registration opens on 25/03/2019 to 30/04/2019.
• Local Competition: For UAE Nationalities, sons of UAE Mother and residents born in UAE shall bring the original Emirati ID Card.
• International Competition: All participants shall bring the original Emirati ID Card for UAE citizens and residents. For participants from outside the State need to bring original passport.
• Participants shall not be allowed to change the category of the contest after the deadline.
• All participants shall sign a statement of health and physical fitness and shall agree to the conditions of participation and respect to the regulations of the Competition.

Complaints:

• Complaints of the result or wrong application of the law shall be during the game or action in the time of the offense by the player only.
• Complaints shall not be accepted unless they are presented with an amount of AED (300) which shall be refunded in case of acceptance of the Complaint, and shall be submitted to the Organizing Committee in case of rejection.
• The Technical Committee alone shall be entitled to interpret and explain the regulations and laws and take the appropriate decisions, and in all cases, these decisions shall be final.
