Regulations for the Badminton Championship

Nad Al Sheba Sports Tournament (NAS) 2026

General Terms:
  1. The badminton championship will be held on Sunday and Monday 22 and 23 / 2 / 2026 at Nad Al Sheba Sports Complex.
  2. Participation in the tournament is allowed for all citizens, residents and internationals according to the categories described below.
  3. The participating player must be medically fit and at his personal responsibility, and his registration in the tournament is considered an acknowledgment to the effect of this, as well as agreeing to the conditions of participation and respecting the regulations of the tournament.
  4. The technical committee of the tournament has the right to take all decisions and procedures that would organize the tournament as desired, including amending the schedule of matches.
Special Terms:
  1. Participants must register in the category in which they are entitled to participate, and it is not allowed to change the category after the registration closes.
  2. Players are responsible for bringing their own equipment which must comply with Badminton International (BWF) standards.
  3. The regulations of the International Badminton Federation (BWF GCR) are referred to in the organization of this tournament unless provided in these regulations.
  4. Clothing must comply with the International Federation (BWF) regulations for sections 21 and 23, with some exceptions described in the tournament rules.
  5. The Organizing Committee reserves the right to cancel categories in which the number of registered players does not reach a minimum of eight players.
Tournament Categories:
  • Emirati Categories:
    • Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles.
    • Boys’ Singles (U15), Girls’ Singles (U15).
  • International Categories:
    • Men’s Singles, Women’s Singles, Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles, Mixed Doubles.
  • Special Olympics Unified Doubles (Mixed Category).
Competition System:
  1. The tournament will adopt a 3 x 15(21) - BWF Rally scoring system.
  2. Matches will follow the latest BWF competition system and rules.
  3. Players will be seeded based on their BWF rankings, followed by UAE local rankings for unranked players.
  4. Shuttles: BWF-approved feather shuttlecocks will be used.
Schedule:
  • 22 February 2026: Round of 16 and Quarterfinals.
  • 23 February 2026: Semifinals and Finals.
  • Match schedules will be updated on the Tournament Software website.
Results and Awards:
  1. The top three players are awarded medals (gold, silver and bronze) and for all categories.
  2. Cash prizes (in AED) will be awarded to the winners.
Complaints:
  1. Complaints shall be submitted in written to the Chairman of the Technical Committee no later than 15 minutes after the end of the match and according to the prescribed form.
  2. Complaints shall not be accepted unless they are presented with an amount of AED (500) which shall be refunded in case of acceptance of the Complaint and shall be submitted to the Organizing Committee in case of rejection.
  3. The Organizing Committee alone shall be entitled to interpret and explain the regulations and laws and take the appropriate decisions, and in all cases, these decisions shall be final.
Registration:
  1. Registration opens on 08 / 12 / 2025 until 19 / 2 / 2026.
  2. Participants are allowed to register for a maximum of two events.
  3. All participants must bring their original Emirates ID and, for internationals, a passport.
