General Terms:
  • 1. The 400m obstacle challenge race (OCR) shall be held from 14 - 21/3/2024 between 9:00pm to 1am.
  • 2. The (OCR) is a timed obstacle race where athletes run and overcome obstacles. Athletes should finish the race as fast as possible. Time cap is 4 minutes.
  • 3. UAE Nationals and residents shall be allowed to participate in the race.
  • 4. The minimum age of participation is 16 years old. If you are aged 16 -17 your guardian must sign your waiver and register you for the event.
  • 5. It is the participant responsibility to be medically fit, have health insurance they will sign a personal declaration and waiver to that effect.
  • 6. The Organizer of the event may make all decisions and take any actions that will regulate the race according to the committee’s desire, including amendments to the schedule.
Special Terms:
  • 1. Each participant is permitted to participate one time in the race.
  • 2. An athlete must wear appropriate sports gear (covered torso) including closed sports shoes, failure to do so will result in the individual not being allowed on the course.
  • 3. An athlete must always obey the race rules and marshals’ instruction, failure to do so will result in disqualification from the competition.
  • 4. There will be timing mat check points at the start and finish line. Failure to pass through a checkpoint will result in disqualification from the race.
  • 5. If an athlete chooses to skip an obstacle for any reason, he will be disqualified.
  • 6. If an athlete caught cheating in any way, shape or form will be disqualified from the race.
  • 7. The responsibility of remaining on the course rests with the athlete. Any athlete, who present a danger to themselves or others, may be removed from the race.
  • 8. Commitment to display the official race number on the back.
Race Categories:
  • 1. Open Category / Men: All UAE locals and residents living in the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
  • 2. Open Category / Women: All female UAE Nationals and residents living in the country shall be allowed to participate in this category.
Race rules:
  • 1. The (OCR) is a 400m running track consisting of a start line, Eleven (11) obstacles and a finish line.
  • 2. The course has (2) lane, every time two participant will race each other to the finish line.
  • 3. The race starts by signal (sound) from officials.
  • 4. The athlete shall Run, walk, crawl, slither scramble or otherwise propel themselves across, under, over or through the surface.
  • 5. An athlete will be judged as "finished," the moment they cross the finish line.
  • 6. An athlete failing an obstacle may attempt the obstacle a second time.
  • 7. An athlete who fails to complete an obstacle on the second attempt will be disqualified from the competition, however he/she can continue the course and get a finisher medal.
  • 8. An athlete who fails an obstacle is designated Did Not Complete (“DNC”) in the results for that run and is not awarded a time.
  • 9. There is no time or athletic penalties.
  • 10. Blocking another athlete intentionally will result disqualification.

1 A Cargo Net
  • Use both hands and feet and distribute your weight evenly for stability.
  • Watch your step and avoid getting tangled in the net.
  • Climbing down should be done carefully and under control.
  • Remember to follow any specific event rules or guidelines related to the cargo net obstacle.
  • Participants should refrain from engaging in rough play or intentionally trying to dislodge others from the cargo net.
  • Skipping the cargo net or attempting to bypass the obstacle without completing it is typically disallowed.
  • Avoid attempting any dangerous maneuvers or stunts on the cargo net that could lead to injuries.
2 Monkey Bars
  • Using only arms or hands to cross under the bars from start to finish.
  • Bars may be missed / skipped.
  • Feet and legs must always remain below shoulder height.
  • Obstacle completion is when the athlete hits the bell with their hand
  • Any part of body contacts the ground or support padding.
  • Use of any support structure or padding for assistance
  • Use feet to hit the bell.
  • Crossing into the other lane
3 Balance Beam
  • Traverse beam from start to finish.
  • The start platform must be used as the first step.
  • The finish platform must be used as the last step.
  • Obstacle completion is when the athlete passes the finish platform.
  • Any part of body contacts the ground.
  • Not stepping on both platforms
  • Crossing into the other lane
4 MULITI RING
  • Stay centered within the obstacle and traverse each ring to complete it.
  • Maintain a steady forward momentum and move from ring to ring using a hand-over-hand technique.
  • You may skip rings and distance if you are able to.
  • Maintain control to prevent injuries.
  • Refrain from intentionally disrupting other participants on the Multi Ring obstacle.
5 Hurdles
  • Keep steady pace, momentum. Alternate legs, lean forward for balance and lift lead leg to clear hurdles.
  • Land softly, absorb impact, focus on upcoming hurdles.
  • Clear all hurdles, adjust stride length based on hurdle height and spacing.
  • Refrain from intentionally disrupting other participants on the hurdle obstacle.
  • Crawling under hurdles is not allowed. Participants are expected to clear the hurdles using the designated technique.
  • Avoid attempting any dangerous maneuvers, such as somersaults or flips, over the hurdles to prevent injuries.
6 4-Wheel Rig
  • Use only the wheels to cross from start to finish
  • Feet and legs must always remain below shoulder height
  • Wheels may be missed / skipped
  • Obstacle completion is when the athlete hits the bell with their hand
  • Any part of body contacts the ground or support padding
  • Use of any support structure or padding for assistance
  • Use feet or legs to cross the wheels
  • Use of feet to hit the bell
  • Feet or legs above shoulder height at any time
  • Crossing into the other lane
7 2m Wall
  • Climb over wall from one side to the other
  • Entire body, including both legs must go over the wall
  • Obstacle completion is when the athlete lands on the other/far side of the wall
  • Use of any support structure or padding for assistance
  • Crossing into the other lane
8 Tarzan Swing
  • Swing from rope to a rope till you reach the last one then hit the bell
  • Both hands and legs can be used on the rope
  • Any part of body contacts the ground or support padding
  • Use of any support structure or padding for assistance
9 Tyre Flip
  • Approaching the tyre flip obstacle requires caution. Before lifting the weight, it is important to assess its type, shape, and the distance you need to cover.
  • Make sure to use proper lifting techniques by bending at the knees and hips while keeping your back straight.
  • Secure the weight with a firm grip.
  • While carrying the weight, maintain an upright posture, keeping your shoulders back, chest up, and engaging your core muscles.
  • Do not drag the weight on the ground.
  • Do not intentionally disrupt other participants during the weight carry.
  • Keep a safe distance from others. -
  • Do not attempt any dangerous maneuvers with the weight that could lead to injuries.
10 Twister
  • Approach the Twister obstacle with caution.
  • Assess the spacing and rotation of the handles before proceeding. To maintain a secure grip, use a technique that combines an overhand and underhand grip.
  • Keep a steady forward momentum and avoid staying too long on each handle to prevent fatigue.
  • Engage your core muscles to stabilize your body as the handles rotate.
  • Coordinate the movement of your hands to follow the rotation of the handles.
  • Please do not intentionally disrupt other participants while on the Twister obstacle.
  • Please avoid attempting any dangerous maneuvers on the Twister that could lead to injuries
11 Rope Climbing
  • Once you're ready to climb, choose a technique that suits your strength and comfort level.
  • Popular techniques include the J-hook (also known as the S-hook) or the Spanish wrap.
  • Remember to use your legs to assist in the ascent.
  • You can pinch the rope between your feet or use a foot locking technique to push yourself up.
  • Throughout the climb, maintain a strong grip on the rope with both hands. Adjust your grip as needed to ensure a safe and successful climb.
  • Always begin the climb from the designated starting position.
  • Do not swing excessively or use the rope for swinging purposes.
  • Avoid attempting any dangerous maneuvers on the rope climb that could lead to injuries.
Location and Timing of the Races:
  • 1. The Race will be hold in NAS Sports Complex at 9:00pm and every 4 mins two participants will start.
  • 2. During registration participants will be allocated a time which will designate their exact starting time.
  • 3. Participants must arrive 1 hour before their time to check in and prepare.
  • 4. Participants will only be allowed to enter the course at their designated time.
Results and Awards:
  • 1. The winners of the race will be calculated on the fastest time around the course.
  • 2. On the last day of the competition, the best 3 times will be crowned at the total level of the competition and awarded (gold, silver, and bronze) medals.
  • 3. The ceremony will be held at NAS Sports complex on a date to be confirmed.
Registration:
  • 1. Registration opens on 27/2/2024 to 21/3/2024 12pm or once the event has reached capacity.
  • 2. The organizer reserves the right to move an athlete heat at any time and will always notify the participant of such action.
  • 3. All timing chips will be allocated when an athlete arrive on site at the event for race day.
  • 4. An athlete will be solely responsible for ensuring they compete the course with the designated timing chip. If they lose the chip their time will not be registered and will not be eligible for any placings or prizes in the competition.
  • 5. For any enquires regarding registration with the challenge race:
Appeal Procedure:
  • 1. Any appeal to the results shall be submitted in writing to the Race Director no later than 12 hours after the results have been released to the public and according to the prescribed form.
  • 2. Appeals shall not be accepted unless they are presented with an amount of AED500 cash, which will be refunded in case of the appeal being upheld. In the case the appeal is found to have no grounds or to be incorrect the AED500 fee will not be refunded.
  • 3. The Technical Committee alone shall be entitled to interpret and explain the regulations and laws and take the appropriate decisions, and in all cases, these decisions shall be final.
